Shimla, April 19

The Congress held a meeting to chalk out its strategy for the Mandi parliamentary constituency here today. Later, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh would win the seat with a record margin votes. State Congress president Pratibha Singh, AICC observer for Mandi Sanjay Dutt, MLAs and grass-roots leaders from the Mandi parliamentary constituency attended the meeting.

A Cong stronghold

The Mandi Lok Sabha constituency is my birthplace as well as workplace. The constituency is a stronghold of the Congress and I will register victory with the blessing of people. Vikramaditya Singh, Congress Mandi candidate

Sukhu said that the Congress had fielded a strong candidate in Vikramaditya from Mandi. He asked party leaders and workers to gear up for the election campaign and highlight the achievements of the government in the past 15 months.

The Chief Minister said that conspirators, who tried to kill democracy for money, would soon be behind bars. “People will give the BJP a befitting reply by voting for Congress candidates on all four seats,” he added.

Dutt asked the party officials to work at the grassroots level in all blocks. “During 10 years of BJP’s rule at the Centre, there has been a massive increase in inflation, unemployment and atrocities against women. The BJP plays with people’s emotions and avoids issues. The way the BJP has tried to destabilise the Congress government, its real face has been exposed,” he added.

Vikramaditya said that the Mandi parliamentary constituency was his birthplace as well as workplace. “The Mandi parliamentary constituency is a stronghold of the Congress and I will register victory with the blessing of people,” he added.

Pratibha urged party workers to work in the same way as they did during the byelections in 2021 in which she wrested the seat from the BJP. “The Congress will give a big message to the country by winning all four seats. The election this time is being fought to save democracy in the country and provide justice to people,” she said.

Veteran leader Kaul Singh Thakur, while addressing the meeting, said that Congress was all set to win the Mandi parliamentary seat. “Congress leaders have made a huge contribution to the development of the state,” he added and called upon party workers to work unitedly to win the elections.
